Apple cake recipe uses Granny Smith apples

Granny Smith apples have a tart taste and are a good complement. However, you can use any kind of apples you desire.

Items you need:
- 1 silicone bone-shaped cake pan
- Large mixing bowl
- Whisk or mixing spoon
- Measuring cup (1 cup size)
- Measuring spoons
Ingredients you need:
- 1 package Cake and Biscuit Mix for Dogs
- 1/3 cup finely chopped apple in 1/4 inch squares (apple pieces should be small enough so that the dog will not choke on one, so for smaller dogs, make sure they are chopped fine)
- 1/2 cup whole oats (do not use instant)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup cooking oil

Conventional oven directions
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- Grease the bottom and sides of the silicone cake pan.
- Stir dog cake mix, water, oil, and egg, until well blended.
- Fold in the apple, cinnamon, and half of the whole oats until well mixed.
- Pour the mix into the silicone pan.
- Take the remaining whole oats and sprinkle on top.
- Pour the mix into the bone-shaped pan.
- Bake for 28-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool before removing it from the pan.
- Frost with Fido’s Frosting dog treats frosting.
Microwave oven modification
- Grease the bottom and sides of the silicone cake pan.
- Stir the cake mix, water, and oil together. OMIT THE EGG
- Add the apple, cinnamon, and oats and mix together.
- Pour into the silicone pan and cook for 4 minutes. Low-wattage microwave ovens may take additional time.
- The cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool completely before removing from the pan.
- Frost with Fido’s Frosting.
